Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won an Emmy Award. Her roles include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was born the sole child of her mother who was a homemaker and senior executive from the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood with her four brothers. While she was a small girl, she wanted to be a court-reporter. In highschool the time came when she began modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. Her first film role was as a teen innocent on All My Children, a 1981 soap opera. Her career as an actor has been awash by a myriad of TV films and dramas. Similar to her profession but her personal life hasn't been easy or prosperous. In the past, this accomplished actress battled addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to that failed. In 2005, she lost custody of her sole son.
